Three Mahomet Public Library seats up for 2023 consolidated election

Petitions for candidates interested in filling one of four Mahomet Public Library Board of Trustee seats in the 2023 consolidated election are available.

Three trustee positions, currently held by Charles Moore, Rebekah Rhode and Jeanne Campion are up for election. These positions are four-year terms. 

Petitions and the 2023 Candidate’s Guide can be downloaded from the Champaign County Clerk’s website.

Qualified candidates must have one-year residency in the library district at the time nomination papers are filed.

A person is not eligible to serve as a library trustee who, at the time of filing nomination papers, is in arrears in the payment of a tax or other indebtedness due to the library district or has been convicted in any court located in the United States of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felonies.

Petitions must be filed with the Mahomet Public Library Secretary from 8:00 a.m. on Dec. 12 through 5:00 p.m. December 19th. The Mahomet Public Library is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon. through Fri. and 1 to 5 p.m. Sat. and Sunday. 

The library board is a non-partisan position.
