Randy Houser, Rhett Walker to headline Mahomet Music Festival

Country-music artist Randy Houser will headline the 2022 Mahomet Music Festival on August 27 after performances by rising-country stars Drew Green and Mahomet native Onoleigh (Pommier).

Houser racked up three consecutive No. 1  hits with his album, How Country Feels, plus earned critical acclaim for his powerful delivery of the Top 5  smash and CMA Song of the Year-nominated “Like A Cowboy.” He added a fourth No. 1 to his catalog with “We Went” from his 2016 album, Fired Up.

Houser’s fourth studio album, Magnolia,  marks a new era for the singer/songwriter which many have called “Houser at his best.” Listeners got  their first taste of Houser’s critically acclaimed rootsy project with the Top 30 hit “What Whiskey Does,”  which debuted at Country radio as #1 Most Added and Rolling Stone immediately dubbed “a classic  tears and twang drinking song.” The album which NPR claims is home to “some of the most expressive  performances of his career,” also includes his single, “No Stone Unturned,” a gypsy-hearted traveling  song that Whiskey Riff calls “the best song, from the best album of 2019.”

After the Mahomet Music Festival parade, concert-goers will make their way to the main stage for an afternoon performance by Christian band Rhett Walker.

Since their debut album Come to the River, the band has toured non-stop,  spending more time on the road than at home.

“We’ve always been that blue-collar kind of band that’s just hard work and dreams, and you put them together and make something happen,” says Rhett.

The debut effort generated the band’s first Top 5 hit, “When Mercy Found Me,” and garnered Rhett a  Grammy nomination. Since its inception, the band has been invited numerous times to perform on the  Grand Ole Opry—a stage they’re comfortable on since a blend of country and southern rock defines their well-honed sound.

The annual music festival will begin on August 26 with the Tons O’ Fun Band and Harbangers’ Ball headlining Friday night.
