Mahomet-Seymour dancers to perform in C-U Ballet’s Nutcracker

Champaign Urbana Ballet’s holiday classic, “The Nutcracker,” returns to Krannert Center for the Performing Arts for two weekends; November 30, December 1-2 and 7-9.

This time-honored community tradition will feature a freshly reimagined scene featuring the very smallest cast members. The darling new “Dutch Dairy” scene is expertly designed, locally inspired, and charmingly handmade by an incredible group of volunteers.

We are thrilled to present something artfully extraordinary that will transport our audience members—hailing from over 30 counties in Illinois—away from the routines of everyday life to a few hours of true merriment,” Executive Director Kay Greene said.

Local Mahomet-Seymour dancers Athena Stanek, Ruby Anderson, Victoria Mahaffey, Emily Hall, Cardin Rafferty, Alice Schleicher, Samantha Dasenbrock, Rosy Odum, Kiera McCoy and Elizabeth Hall have joined the 2018 cast.

Nutcracker regulars and first-timers alike can ring in the holiday season with this outstanding production that features intricate stagecraft, live orchestration by the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, and, as always, the artistry and athleticism of CU Ballet’s extraordinary dancers. In total, over 130 cast members from throughout the region participate in each season of Nutcracker performances.

From the opening notes of the overture to Clara’s farewell to the Nutcracker Prince, CU Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker has truly become a treasure enjoyed by the entire community.

Tickets may be purchased at the Krannert Center Box Office at 217/333.6280 or online at KrannertCenter.com. Prices are $45 for an adult, $30 for a student, and $21 for a youth ticket.
