Five Mahomet-Seymour wrestlers went 2-0 on Tuesday (Dec. 5) as the Bulldogs opened the home portion of their schedule by splitting two dual meets at home.

Winning twice for the Bulldogs were Justus Vrona (126 pounds), Talon Decker (138 pounds), DeAndre Hughey (150 pounds), Gage Decker (157 pounds) and A.J. Demos (165 pounds).

Vrona, Gage Decker and Demos each recorded two pins. Talon Decker and Hughey both had one pin.

M-S pinned a 47-14 loss on Centennial, but dropped a narrow 34-33 decision to Chatham Glenwood in a match where each school won seven bouts.

The match would have been even on the scoreboard, too, but the Bulldogs had a team point deducted for an unsportsmanlike penalty. M-S held a 4-3 edge in the match for pins.

Other Bulldogs who registered one pin for the evening were Lukas Alstetter (106 pounds), Cale Hillard (175 pounds) and Noah Daniels (285 pounds).

Also winning one match were Colton McClure (9-0 win at 120 pounds) and Brock VanDeveer (technical fall at 190 pounds).

M-S (3-2) returns to action on Friday (Dec. 8) in the Pontiac Girls’ Tournament and on Saturday (Dec. 9) in the Downers Grove South Boys’ Dual Team Invitational.
