M-S Tennis remains unbeaten

The unbeaten Mahomet-Seymour girls’ tennis team overpowered Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, 6-2, on Tuesday (Aug. 24).

The Bulldogs swept the doubles matches and won the singles matches from No. 3-No. 6, highlighted by Savannah Amatyleon not losing a game at No. 6 against GCMS’ McKenna Crowley.

Sophia Slupski (No. 4) and Gianna Hill (No. 5) both improved to 2-0 for the season with their singles wins.

Slupski prevailed over Syda Schlickman, 6-2, 6-4, and Hill topped Julianne Sancken, 6-4, 6-1.

Also winning in singles for M-S was Molly Fried (No. 3), who defeated Audrey Iverson, 6-4, 6-4.

M-S’ No. 2 doubles team of Jadyn Hannah and Megan Barnhart also improved to 2-0. They swept past Lexi Darbutt and Schlickman, 6-2, 6-2.

At No. 3 doubles, Bulldogs Averly Sanborn and Lillie Hillard were dominant, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Sancken and Crowley.

M-S was also leading at No. 1 doubles, with Morgan Lee and Fried, 7-6, 3-2, when the match was ended by darkness.

M-S (2-0) returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 26) against Champaign Central at Lindsay Courts.
