Mahomet-Seymour Speech team season comes to close with Sectional performance

Eleven members of the Mahomet-Seymour High School Speech Team participated in the IHSA Sectional tournament on February 13, bringing their competition season to a close.

Junior Savannah Smith advanced to the final round of competition in Radio Speaking, earning a 6th place finish.

The team celebrated their successful season with a Speech Showcase and Award Night where students and parents watched pre-recorded performances at MSHS last week.

Brogan Hennesy, Isabelle Fonte, Alec Berg, Mallory Fonte, Nick Harfst, Savannah Smith, and Matthew He earned their Varsity Letters (signifying 50+ hours of practice and performance).

Speech Pins (signifying 100+ hours of practice and performance) were awarded to Kylie Fuoss, Joshua Park, Madison Ade, Mallory Fonte, Miranda Morrissette, Tadeo Ruiz, and Savannah Smith.

Averhy Sanborn, Madison Ade, Savannah Smith, and Tadeo Ruiz earned a second Speech Pin, for accumulating 150+ hours of practice/performance.

Averhy Sanborn and Savannah Smith earned the Speech Star award, for accumulating 225+ hours of practice/performance.
