Lingard, Rodebaugh win events at Mount Zion mini-meet

Senior Ariana Lingard and junior Grace Rodebaugh were individual winners for Mahomet-Seymour on Tuesday (Feb. 22) in a non-scored girls’ indoor track and field mini meet at Mount Zion.

Lingard captured top honors in the 200 meters. Her winning time was 28.42 seconds. She also took third in the 60 meters (8.24 seconds).

Rodebaugh was triumphant in the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters or 5 feet, 2 inches.

The Bulldogs secured two top-five finishes in two field events.

In the pole vault, Cece Abramson was third (2.75 meters or 9 feet) and teammate Lainie Shoaf was fifth (2.30 meters or 7 feet, 5 inches).

In the triple jump, Abi Weiss took third (7.40 meters or 24 feet, 2 inches) and Claire Johnson ended fourth (7.19 meters or 23 feet, 5 inches).

M-S had third-place finishes from Elizabeth Sims in the 800 meters (2:37.84) and from Ava Boyd in the 1,600 meters (5:47.61).

The Bulldogs’ top-placing relay was the 1,600-meter unit of Chloe Allen, Boyd, Emily Bednar and Sims. They shared the baton in 4:43.90 and finished third.

In the shot put, Kendyl Petro tied for fourth with a best heave of 8.69 meters (or 28 feet, 5 inches).

M-S had top-10 placers in five other events, including two runners in the 800 meters. Allen was sixth (2:42.52) and Bednar was 10th (2:48.17).

In the 1,600 meters, Chloe Bundren finished sixth (5:50.00) and Taylor Good ended in seventh in the pole vault (2.15 meters or 7 feet).

The 800-meter relay quartet of Mallory Carr, Phoebe Truax, Chloe Merkle and Holly Hawes took eighth in 2:06.97.

A second M-S 1,600-meter relay ran eighth. Teaming up for a time of 5:01.46 were Hannah Hofbauer, Abramson, Morgan Waisath and Carr.

M-S returns to action at Mount Zion in another mini meet on Wednesday (Feb. 2).
