Athlete of the Week: Max Katz

Max Katz became Mahomet-Seymour’s first sectional champion Saturday when he posted a season-best score of 401.20 in the diving competition at Centennial High School.

The senior placed first at Centennial twice and at Stanford Olympia in January, and was the runner-up at the Urbana Invitational (388.60 points), at the Illini Prairie Conference meet (362.80 points).

Katz will compete in the state meet, which starts on Feb. 25 at the FMC Natatorium in Westmont. He is one of 48 qualifiers in the event.
