Izaiah Lusk wins Lake of the Woods Junior Open

Izaiah Lusk shot a 77 on Thursday and was the champion in the boys’ 16-17-year-old age bracket at the annual Lake of the Woods Junior Open golf tournament.

He was one of 12 challengers in the division.

The runner-up was Matthew Erickson (78). Tanner Buehnerkemper (81) ended in third place.

Jacob Kern prevailed in a three-way battle for supremacy in the boys’ 14-15-year-old grouping.

The top three finishers were within one stroke of one another.

Kern covered the 18 holes with an 84. Parker McClain was next (85) with Caleb McCullough (86) taking third.

The lone player in the girls’ 14-15 division was Makenna Fiscus (97).

Reis Claybrooke, who recently notched his first hole-in-one, took top honors in the boys’ 12-13-year-old division. Claybrooke ended with a nine-hole tally of 36.

Following him were Lucas Dyer (44) and Jacob Schoudel (48).

The lone competitor in the girls’ 12-13 bracket was Brooke Hartman (69).

Competitors in the boys’ 10-11 age bracket played 18 holes on the Par 3 course.

Jude Traub placed first (61) and was followed by Leo Wyckoff (69) and Carter Keeley (73).

The girls played the same course and Makenna Peterka captured first place with a 78. Sophie Park (80) was next and Kayleigh Grone (81) finished in third place.

In the boys’ 8-9-year-old age bracket, Dayne White posted a 2-shot victory. His nine-hole score was 39.

He was followed by Dawson Martin (41) and Parker Phillips (48).

The lone girls’ entry in the 8-9 division was Alexa Wenzel (57).

A two-hole playoff was needed in the boys’ 5-7-year-old division.

Both Ryne Sebestik and Isaac McCullough carded 27s. They played five holes. Sebestik was victorious on the second playoff hole. Placing third was Levi Risley, with a 28.
