Busey Bank supports Mahomet Community during the holiday season

DSC_9956In addition to putting up decorations and participating in “Light Up Mahomet,” Busey Bank at 312 E Main St. has a number of way they foster a spirit of giving during the holiday season.

Busey Bank has hosted a hat and mitten tree for over 20 years. As employees and customers buy mittens and hats for children, they can hang them on the tree. Mahomet Helping Hands will pick up the mittens and hats on Dec. 17 this year.

Busey also donates a decorated tree every year to the “Trees for Tots” event at Bridle Brook. This year, Busey decorated a tree titled “Christmas Glow in Silver and Gold.” Proceeds from a silent bid process are donated to the Marine’s Toys for Tots program.

In their debut entry into the “Samplings of the Seasons,” Busey served pies and hot drinks. The bank will also be a warming up location with hot drinks from 2 to 7 p.m. during the Christmas Walk on Dec. 20.

Busey was also a drop-off location for It Takes a Village Ultimate Toy Giveaway. This event provided Christmas gifts for local children.

The bank also serves as a drop-off location for the Peanut Butter Drive. The bank collects jars of peanut butter to give to needy families during the holiday season. The peanut butter will also be used in the backpack programs in the Mahomet-Seymour School District and for Mahomet Helping Hands food distribution.
