Mahomet Family Dentistry Athlete of the Week: Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Soccer

The Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Soccer team captured the IHSA Class 2A soccer regional championship by beating visiting Centennial 5-0 on May 20.

The Bulldogs also won the Regional title in 2022. This is the sixth time in eight years Mahomet-Seymour has won the Regional Championship.

Mahomet-Seymour’s season came to an end on May 23 with a loss to Chatham Glenwood in Sectional play. Still, the Bulldogs ended the season with a 13-6-3 overall record, including nine shutouts.

Twenty Bulldogs scored goals this spring and 21 created assists.

The team’s scoring leaders were Paislee Welge (21 goals), Grace Binkley (eight goals), Emma Dallas (eight goals), Abby Bunting (six goals), Gwen Cambron (six goals) and Ella Walk (six goals).

Dallas led in assists (nine), followed by Brielle Galvan (seven), Walk (six), Welge (six) and Binkley (five).
