Kate Severns pitched a three-hit shutout on Saturday (Aug. 14) as the Mahomet-Seymour junior high softball team blanked visiting Danville North Ridge7-0.
Severns struck out nine batters in seven innings.
A run-scoring double by Ava Yeakel lifted M-S into a 1-0 first-inning lead.
The Bulldogs erupted for five runs in the third inning. Severns, Lily Bosworth and Lilly Jones drove in runs in the inning.
Yeakel led the Bulldogs’ 11-hit attack, finishing with three hits. Teammates Olivia Minor and Addison Schulze had two hits apiece.
M-S returns to action on Wednesday (Aug. 18) at Champaign Jefferson.
