Wolter pitches no-hitter, slugs 8th home run

By Fred Kroner

As 20 major league baseball scouts – including the Kansas City Royals’ national pitching director — watched on Tuesday (April 25), Mahomet-Seymour’s Blake Wolters pitched a six-inning no-hitter and slugged his team-best eighth home run of the season as the Bulldogs blanked visiting Centennial, 14-0.

Wolters, whose velocity was clocked at 96-97 mph, struck out a season-high 14 batters and issued one walk in firing his second no-hitter of the spring. Wolters drove in three runs.

He finished with two hits as did Alex McHale. Carter Selk tallied three runs and drove in two runs. Wolters and Cade Starrick each scored two runs.

M-S (19-3) has a six-game winning streak and will return to action on Thursday (April 27) at Hoopeston Area.
