United Way of Illinois to host 21-week Equity Challenge

The United Way of Illinois wants to help make Illinois stronger through a 21-week Equity Challenge program that will begin on Jan. 18, 2021.

The free program provides 21 weekly emails with links to links to articles and videos with activities to help people understand privilege, housing and redlining and justice system inequities, among other topics. 

At the end of the Challenge, the United Way of Illinois will provide participants with ideas on actions that can help improve equity issues in each community.

Participants who complete all of the weekly challenges will receive a certificate of completion, a digital badge, and links to tips and training tools to help continue the conversation.

“We recognize there is significant need for us as individuals and organizations to gain a better understanding of how inequity and racism impact so many of our neighbors and to learn what we can do to dismantle all forms of oppression,” the United Way of Illinois website says. “The United Way of Illinois Equity Challenge is designed to be a powerful opportunity for shared learning, action, and growth.”

To participate in the Challenge, individuals just need to visit https://unitedwayillinois.org/equity-challenge/ and fill out a form that allows the United Way to send emails your way.
