Run Mahomet a virtual success

COVID-19 has canceled a lot of events, but the pandemic did not stop 287 runners and walkers from supporting the Mahomet Area Youth Club.

The 25th annual Run Mahomet was held virtually on July 31 and Aug. 1.

Executive Director Sara Balgoyen extended a “heartfelt thanks” to everyone for coming along even during this time of “unknowns.” The financial support helps the organization complete their mission year-in and year-out.

“We are teaching and supporting youth to develop to their fullest potential to become responsible, respectful, caring, and productive citizens.”

MAYC will carry on the new virtual race option in upcoming years when the run can also be held in-person.  The 2020 “Challenge” of running a 5K, 10K and half marathon will also be extended into upcoming years.
