MSJHS Production of Little Red Robin Hood this weekend

It all takes place in the forest.

A young girl wearing a red hood walks through the dense woods to her grandmother’s house and a man out to save the people robs the rich as they pass through the forest.

We’re all familiar with the fairy tales of Little Red Riding Hood and Robin Hood, but what happens when characters from other fairy tales get involved?

The Mahomet-Seymour Junior High Drama program’s production of Little Red Robin Hood will be presented on Friday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, March 10 at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.

Set in Sherwood Forest, Little Red Robin Hood must deal with the Big Bad Sheriff of the Naughty Hams, who do the bidding of Prince John, and the vain Emperor, who is eager to try on his magic new suit being woven by Cinderella’s deceitful stepsisters.

With Humpty Dumpty, Black Sheep, Rose Red, and Simple Simon acting as her Merry Men, Little Red Robin Hood must save all the village grannies of Sherwood Forest, including her own, an old woman who lives in a shoe, Mother Hubbard, and Mother Goose herself.

Along the way, she also wins the heart of the Pied Piper — aka Marion — who’s a touring celebrity musician with an armload of different Marys as groupies.

Nearly 30 students in grades 6 through 8 have worked on the production since December.

“This group of kids is amazing,” Drama Sponsor Brittany Immormino said. “They are hilarious, hardworking, and I am so proud to have been a part of the process. The show is definitely their show and other than providing structure and support, it’s been them and not me. “

Tickets are available during regular school hours at Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. Tickets cost $5 each.
