If you are a trivia enthusiast or just like to support Mahomet-Seymour High School extra-curricular activities and like to eat pizza, then the Scholastic Bowl Trivia Night on April 7 may be for you.

The event that begins at 6 p.m. will be to raise funds for seven varsity Scholastic Bowl participants (Team Captain Tony Cosimini, Ben Dahl, Nick Morrow, Charlie Boozell, Carly Pogue, Carolyn McCue, and Trinity Reeves) who will travel to Washington D.C. to compete in the Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence (PACE) 2018 National Scholastic Championship on June 2-3.

Cosimini, Dahl and Morrow were part of the MSHS Scholastic Bowl team that participated in the 2017 National Scholastic Championship.

MSHS was Apollo Conference Champions, Fall Harvard Mirror Tournament Champions, IHSA Regional Champions and Masonic Tournament Sectional Champions.

Cosimini and Dahl were voted into the 2018 Illinois All-State Class AA Second Team by the Illinois High School Scholastic Bowl Coaches’ Association. Cosimini and Dahl were also 2nd All-State team members.

Although the MSHS JV Scholastic Bowl season has come to an end, the Varsity team will still participate in two Parkland Challenge competitions on April 18 and 20 at Parkland College.

On April 21st, the Scholastic Bowl team will also compete against the top teams from Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Minnesota in the Scholastic Bowl Midwest Championship at the University of Illinois.

The Trivia event will begin at 6 p.m.

Teams will consist of six players. Groups with less than six players will be grouped with other smaller groups.

Trivia play will consist of 8 rounds. The winner of each round will receive a prize and a cash grand prize will be given to the overall winning team.

There will also be a silent auction, which will include Cub/Cardinal tickets for a Saturday afternoon game.

Tickets cost $12 in advance and $15 at the door. To purchase tickets, talk to any Scholastic Bowl team member or call Lisa at 217.778.3200.

Ticket price includes food, with additional food and drink available for purchase.
