Mills, Boyd finish in top 100 at IHSA State meet

Freshman Taylor Mills was the top finisher for Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ cross-country team on Saturday (Nov. 4) in the Class 2A state meet at Detweiller Park, in Peoria.

Mills’ 3-mile time of 18 minutes, 35.51 seconds landed her in 64th place in the 242-runner field. Among freshmen in Class 2A, Mills was the 12th finisher at state.

The Bulldogs’ other state competitor was senior Ava Boyd, who was battling a severe head cold, and ended 81st in 18:51.71.

The Class 2A team champion was Chatham Glenwood (84 points), followed by Grayslake Central (125 points), St. Ignatius (166 points) and Washington (209 points).

There were 29 full teams at state.
