Mahomet-Seymour defeats Effingham in Apollo action Friday

A trio of double-figure scorers led Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ basketball team past visiting Effingham, 68-56, Friday night.
The Bulldogs are 14-4 overall after improving to 7-0 in Apollo Conference action.
Cory Noe nailed 10 of 17 shots and scored a team-high 26 points. Noah Benedict had 16 points as did Holt Campion, who made 8 of 9 field goal attempts.
The top three scorers were a combined 8-for-8 from the free throw line, with Noe sinking all six of his attempts.
Noe and Benedict each pulled down four rebounds to share the lead for the Bulldogs. Campion handed out four assists and Noe led M-S with four steals.
The Bulldogs needed a second-half rally to top the Hearts. Effingham led after one quarter 17-12 and 34-33 at halftime.
M-S will start play in the Central Illinois Mid-Winter Classic on Tuesday at Washington.
