Mahomet Polar Plunge at Lake of the Woods on March 21

The Mahomet Polar Plunge and Donut Dash 5K will be held at Champaign County Forest Preserve’s Lake of the Woods on March 21, 2020.

The Polar Plunge is an annual event to raise money for Special Olympics. Each year plungers raise at least $100 for the right to jump into the frigid waters at Lake of the Woods. The registration fee also covers the cost of an official Law Enforcement Torch Run Mahomet Polar Plunge hoodie.

The Polar Donut Dash 5K will be held in conjunction with the Polar Plunge.

This unique run not only tests the speed of runners, but also treats them to donut stops along the route where they will be rewarded with one-minute of their time for each donut they consume along the course.

Registration for the Donut Dash 5K is $30 online or $35 the day of the event.  Awards will be given to the top three individuals in each age category.

Pre-registered Dashers will receive an exclusive Polar Donut Dash shirt during registration. Day of registration will receive their shirt on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Registration for the Donut Dash begins at 8 a.m. with runners heading out at 9 a.m. Registration for the Polar Plunge will begin at 10 a.m. with the plunge taking place at noon.

Pre-registration will also be available March 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lake of the Woods Pavillion.
