Mahomet Family Dentistry Athlete of the Week: Madalyn Marx

Before the 2023 outdoor track and field season began at Mahomet-Seymour, freshman Madalyn Marx was already putting her name in the books.

The sprinter was the Runner-Up at the USATF Indoor National Championships in the 15-16 age bracket at Louisville, Ky. She clocked her personal best in one minute flat (1:00.00). Marx also earned All-America honors, finishing third with a time of 25.69 in the 200-meter race and 7.57 in the 55-meter race.

Marx went on the best her USATF time at the Illinois Top Times unofficial indoor state track meet, finishing seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 26.24. In the 400 meters, Marx finished eighth, clocking 1:01.63.

Marx has continued to improve her times during outdoor competitions. Her 200-meter time at Urbana was 25.77. She won the race by a .27 margin of victory. She also improved her 100-meter time to 13:05, placing third.

Marx won her 400-meter race at home against Monticello. The official clocks were done for this race, but it was reported, unofficially, that she finished under the 1:00.00 mark.
