Mahomet Family Dentistry Athlete of the Week: Aron Varga

Junior Aron Varga is leaving his marks on the Mahomet-Seymour record books for the second year.

Varga holds the record for the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:03.06. Earlier in the 2022-23 season, Varga broke a 2017 record held by Joshua Eckberg, swimming the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:03.26.  at the Centennial Invitational.

At 6’1”, Varga also continues to lower his 200-yard individual medley time. In 2021, he held the school record at 2:07.79. At the Raider Invitational in 2022, Varga swam that same event at 2:06.01. Recently at the Urbana Invitational, he swam the 200-yard individual medley at 2:03.10. 

Varga continues to improve his 200-yard freestyle time (1:38.68), 100-yard butterfly (58.95), 500-yard freestyle (5:14.51), and 100-yard backstroke (59.45) as the regular season winds down. M-S returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 18) in the 33-school Urbana Sectional.
