Kyle Davenport wins Naughtin Open

Champaign’s Kyle Davenport overcame a 2-stroke deficit after the first round to post a 4-shot victory on Sunday (June 5) in the two-day Naughtin Open golf tournament at the Lake of the Woods.

Davenport carded rounds of 67 and 66 to finish at 133.

Sunday’s round was played from the back tees and Davenport’s score was a course record from the back tees.

Finishing as the runner-up in the championship flight was David Deschler (69-68—137). C.G. Facer tied for third (65-74—139) with Lyle Burns (67-72—139).

In the first flight, Shane Allen (82-76—158) ended in a first-place tie with Blake Harvey (84-74—158). In third place was Zach Henderson (89-73—162). Placing fourth was Duane Smith (84-81—165).

Taking top honors in the Senior Division was Champaign’s Tom Pankau (72-75—147).

A second-place tie existed between Bruce Kelso (75-79—154) and John Malloy (79-75—154). Coming in fourth was Brian Beherns (77-78—155).

In the first flight of the Senior Division, the winner was Mark Guymon (85-89—174). Capturing second place was Phil Rogers (88-88—176). Taking third was Joe Quinlan (93-86-179). Bob Nadarski was fourth (91-91—182).
