Bohm leads Mahomet-Seymour in Apollo Conference win

Sophomore Jackson Bohm registered his third consecutive 20-point game on Thursday (Nov. 30) as the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball team opened Apollo Conference play at home with a 65-55 win over Mattoon.

Bohm connected for a game-high 25 points and hit 4-of-4 free throws. He also collected five rebounds.

M-S led, 21-7, after one quarter and 32-14 at halftime.

Lucas Dyer swished three three-point shots and netted 13 points. He pulled down a team-leading seven rebounds.

Others contributing in the scoring column for the Bulldogs were Finnley Randolph (nine points), Miles Woolsey (six points), Landyn Hannah (five points), Cade Starrick (three points), Henry Wagner (two points), and Braden Pagel (two points).

Randolph sank two three-pointers. Bohm, Hannah, Starrick and Woolsey all notched one three-point shot.

On Saturday (Dec. 2), the Bulldogs fell at Mount Zion, 64-42.

Woolsey broke loose for a season-high 13 points. He was followed in the scoring column by Starrick (nine points), Hannah (eight points), Dyer (four points), Pagel (three points), Wagner (three points) and Gavin Bailey (two points).

Ten of M-S’ 15 field goals were made from three-point range.

Starrick and Woolsey each popped in three three-pointers. Hannah hit twice from beyond the arc. Pagel and Wagner converted one three-point shot.

M-S was 2-for-3 from the free throw line. Bailey ended 2-for-2.

Mount Zion led, 18-12, after one quarter and expanded its lead to 38-17 at halftime.

M-S (2-4) returns to action on Tuesday (Dec. 5) at Charleston.
