Eli Warren tallied four goals and Nate Lundstrom assisted on four scores as Mahomet-Seymour won at Mattoon, 6-1, on Monday (April 5) in a boys’ Apollo Conference soccer match.

Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Lundstrom and Anthony Ramirez. Tucker Antonacci and Clayton Gibson had one assist apiece.

M-S led, 5-0, at halftime.

“The Bulldogs were able to get out in front early again, and were able to coast to their seventh win of the season,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “Eli Warren and Nate Lundstrom continued to connect well. Eli had one of the best finishing nights of the year, consistently picking his spots in the side of the net.

“The Bulldogs were able to once again move the ball up on the ground and had quite a bit of success in stringing together passes.”

M-S maintained its position atop the Apollo Conference standings by edging Lincoln 3-2 on Tuesday (April 6) in Mahomet.

The Bulldogs built a 3-0 lead over the Railsplitters, who started the night tied for second (with Mount Zion) in the Apollo.

Warren had a hand in all of the M-S scoring, notching two goals and assisting Logan Woodward on the other score.

Warren’s assist was the 34th of his career, enabling him to tie Kadyn Jones’ school record for career assists.

Sam Henrichs and Woodward also had assists on Tuesday.

Ashby stopped five shots by Lincoln.

M-S (8-1-2) returns to action on Thursday (April 8) at Effingham. In Apollo Conference matches, the league-leading Bulldogs are 7-0-1.
