Fans of recreational trails and outdoor enthusiasts are in for a treat! A special evening is set to unfold at the enchanting Dragonfly venue at Sleepy Creek Vineyards on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. The event, dubbed “KRT at Sleepy Creek”, is organized to raise funds for the continued development of the Kickapoo Rail Trail (KRT) that spans across Champaign and Vermilion County.

From 6pm to 9pm, attendees can immerse themselves in an evening filled with captivating live music by The Live Jukebox Show featuring David Howie. Complementing the melodies will be a sumptuous dinner catered by the renowned Applewood Foods Catering. Those with a keen eye for unique items can look forward to an amazing silent auction set to commence at 8:30 pm. And for wine aficionados, there’s a wine pull to add to the excitement.

For those eager to reserve their spot, individual tickets are priced at $50. Those interested in making the evening a group affair can sponsor a table with 10 seats for $450. Tickets and table sponsorships are available for purchase at https://onekrt.org/events.

The Kickapoo Rail Trail, upon completion, will stretch a commendable 24.5 miles from Urbana to the Kickapoo State Park in Vermilion County. This multi-purpose trail is meticulously designed to cater to pedestrians and bicyclists. It boasts diverse ecosystems, taking explorers through the beauty of woodlands, prairies, and wetlands. Portions of the trail are already open to the public, including segments in St. Joseph, Ogden, and the stunning Trestle Bridge in Vermilion County. These spaces invite individuals for hiking, biking, and various non-motorized activities.

Proceeds from the “KRT at Sleepy Creek” event will directly fund the expansion and maintenance of this recreational gem. For additional details or inquiries, the public can reach out at 217-586-3360 or 217-442-1691.
