Event leads to Mahomet COVID-19 positive cases

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District is conducting an investigation into a non-school event in Mahomet that has resulted in COVID-19 positive tests for Mahomet-Seymour students.

Superintendent Lindsey Hall said that at this point the district does not know how many individuals have been infected.

Today, the Mahomet-Seymour School district suspended all in-person athletic conditioning and Behind the Wheel Driver’s Education instruction until further notice.

Schnucks announced Monday that an employee who worked on Saturday also tested positive.

“Again, out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to suspend both athletic conditioning and behind the wheel driver’s education,” Hall said. “We are in communication with the CUPHD, but again I want to stress that the event that took place earlier in June was not related to the school district but was attended by Mahomet-Seymour students. “

More information will be announced as it becomes available.
