Coetzee to play baseball at the University of Notre Dame

Mahomet-Seymour Senior Student/Athlete Brooks Coetzee has committed to play intercollegiate baseball at the University of Notre Dame.

Located in South Bend, Indiana, Notre Dame competes as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Taking the field for its inaugural season in 1892, the storied Fighting Irish Baseball program has made 22 NCAA Regional appearances and have captured 10 conference championships. Notre Dame baseball is led by Head Coach Mik Aoki (174-161-1 .519 (six seasons)).  

A three-year starter and Varsity letter-winner in baseball, Brooks has appeared in 88 total games while a career posting .391 batting average.  During his prep career, Coetzee has driven in 64 runs while scoring 82 times and has a career on base percentage of .523.  Brooks is a 3–time Corn Belt Conference All-Conference selection and has also earned varsity letters as a member of the Bulldog Football and Basketball programs.  Brooks is the son of Dr. Brooks and Hannelie Coetzee of Mahomet and plans to study Biology.
