Classic Plumbing and the Mahomet Public Library team up to kick off summer

Mahomet’s Classic Plumbing knows that summer is a treat.

So, they want to kick it off that way.

Classic Plumbing owner Tim Culver is covering the cost of Kona Ice snow cones as students are released from the 2020-21 school year on May 26. The Kona Ice truck will be in the parking lot of the Mahomet Public Library.

The event will coincide with the kickoff event for the Mahomet Public Library’s summer reading program from 1:30-4:00pm.

The 2021 program, running from May 26 to July 31 is themed “Color Your World.”

Children from age 0 to 5th grade will be given a bingo sheet of reading activities. As young readers fill out the bingo sheet, they will be encouraged to think about how the activity colored their world. Participants will earn beads and be entered for a chance to win a raffle prize.

Seventh grade students to adults will also be encouraged to step outside of their comfort zone by reading books about other cultures, places, adventures or traditions.

Everything to register for the summer reading program will be at the library on May 36 or patrons can visit the library or call 217.586.2611 to request their packet.
