Bulldogs to play in Regional Championship match

Mahomet-Seymour’s eighth-grade volleyball team opened postseason play at home on Tuesday (March 8) by overpowering Champaign Jefferson, 25-4, 25-14, in a Class 4A IESA regional semifinal match.

The top-seeded Bulldogs (16-5) will play seventh-seeded Urbana in the regional championship match on Thursday (March 9) at 4:30 p.m. at M-S Junior High.

The winner will qualify for the sectional tournament. Urbana has back-to-back regional upset wins against the No. 2 and No. 6 seeds.

When M-S and Urbana played in the regular season, the Bulldogs won in two sets.

The Bulldog eighth-graders won their regular-season finale at home on Wednesday (March 2) in a make-up match against Normal Parkside, 25-19, 26-19.

The eighth-graders have a 5-2 mark in three-set matches and a 11-3 record in three-set matches.

The volleyball season ended for the Mahomet-Seymour seventh-graders on Thursday (March 3) with a loss at home to Champaign Edison, 25-18, 25-15, in the championship match of an IESA Class 4A regional.

The Bulldogs end the season with an overall record of 17-7. Two of the losses came to Edison.

M-S was 5-0 in three-set matches and 12-7 in two-set matches.
