Bulldog swimming places second at Urbana

Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ swimming team won nine of 11 events on Monday (Oct. 3) and placed second in a four-school meet at Urbana on the same day the team had an early-morning workout..

The host Tigers were the winners with 383 points. Runner-up M-S had 338 points and were followed by Danville (195) and Charleston (173).

Eden Oelze and Talynn O’Donnell each won two individual events and helped two relays to victory.

Oelze was tops in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.53) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:29.58).

O’Donnell was triumphant in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.60) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.54).

Other Bulldogs who won individual events were Shelby Raver (50-yard freestyle in 30.10 seconds), Maddie Logsdon (100-yard freestyle in 1:08.61) and Lainey Howard (500-yard freestyle in 6:03.24).

Propelling the 200-yard freestyle relay to victory were O’Donnell, Oelze, Raver and Howard. Their cumulative time was 1:51.97.

The winning 400-yard freestyle relay consisted of Oelze, Howard, Logsdon and O’Donnell. Their time was 4:09.09.

Capturing runner-up finishes for the Bulldogs were Raver (100-yard freestyle in 1:12.81) and Howard (200-yard freestyle in 2:14.31).

M-S (6-5) returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 8) in the 10th-annual Urbana Invitational.
