Boyd and Marx find success at unofficial indoor state meet at Illinois Wesleyan University’s Shirk Center

Junior Ava Boyd was the top placer for the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ track and field team on Saturday (March 25) in the Class 2A division of the Illinois Top Times unofficial indoor state meet at Illinois Wesleyan University’s Shirk Center.

Boyd ran a personal-best 5 minutes, 16.93 seconds in the 1,600 meters and ended in sixth place. She was one of 15 finalists who qualified for the race.

Freshman teammate Madalyn Marx was a two-event indoor state-placer.

Marx achieved her best career time in the 200 meters (26.24 seconds) and took home seventh place. The race had 20 participants.

In the 400 meters, she was eighth in 1:01.63, but was the top freshmen or sophomore in the race with 23 competitors.

After concluding the indoor season, the Bulldogs will return to action outdoors on Friday (March 31) at the Belleville West Invitational.
