M-S Administrative Changes in 2018

Several administration personnel changes within the Mahomet-Seymour School District have occurred in 2018.

But to understand the recent turnover, it is important to look back about a year and a half.

In November of 2016, the Mahomet-Seymour School District hired Lindsey Hall to replaced Superintendent Rick Johnston, who was to retire at the end of the 2016-17 school year.

With the retirement of Director of Instruction, Mary Weaver, also at the conclusion of the 2016-17 school year, the district then hired Nicole Rummel.

Sangamon Elementary Principal Mark Cabutti was also to retire in June 2017. The district hired Wendy Starwalt to replace him, and also moved Middletown Principal Carol Shallenberger to Assistant Principal, so Starwalt could be principal of Pre-K through second grade.

Aside from those three changes, the administrative staff at Mahomet-Seymour stayed the same throughout the district.

Then, within the consent agenda of the Jan. 22, 2018 board packet, Mahomet-Seymour Principal Heather Landrus resigned from her position effective at the end of the current school year.

Knowing that Shallenberger was to resign at the end of the 2017-2018 school year as well, the district had already posted the Middletown Prairie Assistant Principal position. On March 5, during a special board meeting, the district hired Ryan Martin to begin work as the Assistant Principal of Middletown Prairie in July 2018.

By March 12, the district had filled the post Landrus will vacate with the hiring of Nathan Mills, who is currently the Assistant Principal at Mahomet-Seymour High School.

During that same meeting, the Mahomet-Seymour School Board voted to follow the procedures of the involuntary reassignment of Lincoln Trail Assistant Principal Courtney Porter. Hidden within the consent agenda was also the voluntary reassignment of Chris Forman, who is the District Technology Coordinator.

When Superintendent Hall was asked if the Instructional Technology Coordinator position is being eliminated, she did not respond. The job has not been posted on the district website as of April 11, 2018.

On March 27, 2018, Mahomet-Seymour Junior High Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Justin Franzen resigned to take the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Position at St. Joseph-Ogden High School next year. Franzen’s position at MSJHS has been posted on the district website.

While the hiring spree is not over, Mahomet-Seymour High School filled Mills’ Assistant Principal position with the announced promotion of M-S P.E. teacher and boys’ basketball coach Chad Benedict on April 9, 2018.
