Orgeron registers first double-double in win over Taylorville

Freshman Savannah Orgeron registered her first varsity double-double on Friday, helping Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball to a 61-31 Apollo Conference victory at home over Taylorville.

Orgeron scored 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Three other Bulldogs joined their teammate in double figures. Cayla Koerner scored 17 points, Makayla Rosenbery hit 11 points and Durbin Thomas also totaled 11 points.

In their regular-season finale, the Bulldogs led 12-7 after one quarter and 28-20 at halftime.

Ashley Wheeler grabbed five rebounds. Koerner ended with three assists and three steals. Rosenbery contributed three steals and Thomas had three assists.

M-S (17-13) starts postseason play at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a Class 3A regional semifinal game at Decatur MacArthur against Urbana, a team it lost to by 15 points two weeks ago.
