Grant Coleman reached double figures in scoring, Luke Koller reached double figures in rebounding and Cole Lener reached double figures in assists on Friday as M-S dropped Taylorville 76-53 in an Apollo Conference boys’ basketball game at home.

Coleman hit the 30-point mark for the seventh time as a senior, bagging a game-high 35 points. Koller handled 10 rebounds and Lener dealt out 11 assists.

Coleman hit 14 of his points in the opening period.

Other top scorers for the Bulldogs, who led 20-13 after one quarter and 36-20 at halftime, were Kobe Essien (16 points), Braden Finch (eight points) and Koller (eight points).

Eli Warren contributed five rebounds and five assists.

“As always, Cole Lener had a great night guarding Taylorville’s exceptional guard Jase Bergschneider all night and making him work for all of his 26 points,” said M-S head coach Ryan Bosch, referring to a player who tallied 51 points on Tuesday.

M-S (17-10) has won six games in a row and returns to action on Tuesday at home against Normal West, a non-conference opponent that beat the Bulldogs by 11 points in December.

“We’re playing really well right now and will have our chance to redeem one of our 10 losses against Normal West,” Bosch added.
