Winters, Mahomet-Seymour win Class 1A Regional Golf Championship

Senior Ainsley Winters captured a Class 1A regional golf championship on Thursday (Sept. 29), leading Mahomet-Seymour to its sixth team regional title in the past 11 years.
Winters fired a 70 in the tournament at Lincolnshire Fields Country Club, in Champaign, beating runner-up and teammate Kayla McKinney, who carded an 85.
In a field of 52 participants, all six Bulldog entries placed among the top 15.
Brooke Hartman was fifth with a 94. Elena Tompkins was ninth with a 100, Maddy Clark was 10th with a 102 and Chloe Merkle was 15th with a 108.
The M-S team composite score was 350. Team runner-up Tuscola had a score of 408. Paris (439) was the third team to qualify for the Lincoln Sectional, which will be held on Monday (Oct. 3).
Eight full teams competed at the regional.
