Ten Mahomet-Seymour athletes earned all-Apollo Conference first-team status this spring in either baseball, softball or girls’ soccer.

Another four Bulldogs were chosen for the all-Apollo second team.

In softball, senior Aubrie Shore completed a perfect 3-for-3 collection of first-team accolades. She was recognized by the Apollo as a freshman, sophomore and senior.

Spring sports were canceled her junior year by COVID-19.

The other M-S athlete on the all-league softball first team was junior pitcher Karley Yergler.

A second-team pick was M-S senior Ashley Campbell.

In all, 12 athletes were first-team choices, including three pitchers. Nine others received second-team status.

In conference play, M-S was 5-2 and placed third in the eight-team league.

Yergler (.537), Shore (.526) and Campbell (.484) were the leading hitters on the 16-8 softball team.

Yergler had an 11-6 pitching record and struck out 181 batters (while walking only 14) in 103 innings and allowing 62 hits. She had a team-best 1.43 earned run average. Yergler also socked a school season-record of 14 home runs.

The Bulldogs’ baseball team had two athletes recognized and both were placed on the 12-player first team.

Junior Chase Wagers and sophomore Blake Wolters were the M-S representatives.

Wagers had a team-best .442 batting average and 3-1 pitching record. Wolters had the second-best batting average among Bulldogs (.416) as well as a team-leading 5-2 pitching record.

The conference recognition was the first for both players.

The Bulldogs tied for fifth in the eight-school conference with a 3-4 league record.

In girls’ soccer, M-S was recognized for a season when it was undefeated in conference action (10-0) and outscored its league opponents 85-4.

Six of the 11 first-team picks were Bulldog athletes, including senior midfielder Nyah Biegler and senior defender Maddie Claybrooke.

Teammates who were also recognized on the first team were juniors Brea Benson (midfielder), Cayla Koerner (forward) and Lauren Schnepper (forward) along with sophomore Janel Straub (defender).

Biegler is a two-time all-conference first-teamer. She was first elevated to that level as a sophomore. Her junior season was canceled by the coronavirus pandemic.

Benson and Koerner were each placed on the 11-player second team in 2019 as freshmen.

This spring, Koerner broke the M-S single-season school scoring record with 45 goals. Biegler was second with 19 goals and totaled 33 in her three-year career. Benson was third with 15 goals in 2021 and amassed a team-high 27 assists this spring.

M-S was rewarded with three of the 11 second-team all-conference selections: junior goalkeeper Grace Larson as well as sophomore midfielder Abby Bunting and sophomore defender Callie Stutsman.
