Sunny Acres Road detour near railroad tracks to begin March 25

Construction on Sunny Acres Road is scheduled to begin at the end of March.

The contractor, Beniach Construction, will set up the detour and close Sunny Acres Road, from South Mahomet Road to the railroad tracks on Monday March 25.

Beginning construction from South Mahomet Road to the railroad tracks will allow school buses to continue their routes until the end of the school year.

Once the south section is completed, Sunny Acres Road will then closed to thru traffic for four months. Access to homes along Sunny Acres Road will be granted through a one-way detour set up by the construction company. Residents in subdivisions nearby will have to access alternative routes to reach their destinations.

The project involves the replacement of the 11-foot wide concrete lanes with the same width 7-inch thick concrete pavement and a 4-inch gravel drainage base layer, 4-foot wide rock shoulders that will be seal-coated, guard rail replacement at the railroad crossing, extensions of crossroad culverts, ditch grading, and restoration.

During the time of construction, the Village suggests that residents seek alternative routes whenever possible. The project contractor will provide a detour.

Construction is expected to be completed in August before the school year begins.
