Spring Tea at Life Community Church on April 9

Life Community Church invites Mahomet women to a special Spring Tea on April 9  from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We just wanted to reach out to the women of Mahomet,” Christine Augustine said. “That’s where our heart is; to expand this so that’s it’s not just a church event, but a community event.”

Augustine used to cater tea parties when she lived in Columbus before her kids were born.

“I used to think tea parties were totally silly until I got invited to one when my husband and I were dating,” she said. “I fell in love with it. God just laid a passion on my heart  to encourage women through teatime.”

Augustine along with the men and women at Life Community Church plan to pamper their guests with fresh linens, china, hot scones and an encouraging guest speaker.

“It’s going to be beautiful,” she said. “We’re going to take time to do things for women that they don’t do for themselves. When they leave, they’re going to feel like this was an experience.”

“I’ve always dreamt of owning a tea room where women could come sit and be encouraged by their friendships,” she continued. “I think it’s a high value that women are able to engage in authentic relationships. And I think tea is a great way to do that because it forces us to be still.”

“You may say “this isn’t my thing” but I encourage any women to give it a chance,” Augustine said. “To allow others to pamper you and feast on an incredible meal and engage in great conversation with other ladies.  Well worth a 2 hours out of your day.

Appetizer – Spring Berry Salad with raspberry vinaigrette and Chilled Strawberry Basil Soup
Scone – Lemon-Thyme Scone with Devonshire Cream & Lemon Curd
Sandwiches – Apricot Chicken Salad, Salmon Canape’, Strawberry-Basil on white, Cucumber-Basil & Tomato bites, Open faced Watermelon, Goat Cheese & Mint Crustini.
Finale’ – Chocolate Mousse topped with Raspberry served in a Chocolate Cordial Cup, Cream Puffs and Chocolate Petite Fours.
Refreshments – Hot Tea and Fruit Infused Water.
