School board to vote on extension of Johnston’s contract

The Mahomet-Seymour School Board will vote on an extension of the contract between Rick Johnston and the Mahomet-Seymour School District Monday night.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Middletown Prairie Elementary.

The former Superintendent of Mahomet-Seymour was hired on August 22, 2017 as the Project Manager for the renovation and addition of Middletown Prairie Elementary.

As a part-time district employee, Johnston’s agreement included 79 days of work for $75,000.

Superintendent Lindsey Hall said the 10-day extension will continue at Johnston’s current rate of $750 per day.

Hall said, “We have remaining work to finish up.  It is doubtful that 10 days is needed, but we wanted to make sure everything is covered.”

Middletown Prairie opened to students on August 17.
