At 160 pounds, in a showdown of individuals with 27 season wins, Naperville
Central’s Derek McDaniel edged Lucas Morgan 5-2.
At 220 pounds, Ben Stahl won four consecutive matches — three by pins — to reach the finals. Then he dropped a 6-5 decision to Mattoon’s unbeaten Garrett Branson.
Third-place finishers for the Bulldogs were David Spencer (138 pounds) and David Griffet (285 pounds), who rebounded from a 3-2 overtime loss in the semifinals to register his third pin of the day.
Kyle Johnson (152 pounds) was the team’s lone fourth-place finisher.
Placing fifth for coach Rob Ledin’s team were Wyatt Heimann (170) and Lucas Hooper (195). Jack Vaughn (182) and Seth Buchanan (285) each ended in sixth place.
