MSHS Softball season ends with loss to Charleston

Charleston ended Mahomet-Seymour’s softball season on Saturday with an 11-5 triumph in a Class 3A regional championship game on the Bulldogs’ field.

Charleston, 29-4, scored six second-inning runs and never trailed the Bulldogs.

Sam Tamburo and Aubrie Shore each collected two hits for M-S. Ashley Wheeler drove in two runs.

Shore pitched the first 1 2/3 innings and suffered the loss. She allowed four hits, walked two and struck out no one.

Karley Yergler pitched 3 2/3 innings, yielding six hits and no walks. None of the four runs she allowed were earned.

Abigail Akers worked the final 2/3 of an inning.

M-S closes the season with a 19-11 record.

The Bulldogs’ seniors were Madison Maring, Allison Nofziger and Sam Tamburo.
