Girls’ golf

High heat and humidity caused a reduction in play for the combined Champaign County/Piatt County invitational at the University of Illinois Blue course on Tuesday.

The 18-hole event was dropped to nine holes.

St. Thomas More captured team honors, followed by Monticello. M-S, which was without three of its top four players, placed fifth.

M-S (4-5) suffered its first Apollo Conference loss on Tuesday when visiting Mattoon won the decisive third set.
