Make plans for a 2022 Fourth of July Celebration

As the days grow hotter and the nights grow shorter, many anticipate the Fourth of July.

This year people are celebrating the red white and blue in a number of ways.

The town of Mahomet is pairing with the Champaign County Forest Preserve to host this year’s Freedom Fest. 

Festivities will take place on Friday, July 1 at Mahomet’s Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve. Starting at 4 p.m. Music will fill the air. Following a tribute to service men and women fireworks will “Light up the Lake” around 9. 

Freedom Fest admission is $2.00 per person, children 5 and under are free. Military persons with ID also get in for free. 

The Forest Preserve recommends watching the fireworks next to the Lake of the Woods Pavillion, near the Little Golden Gate Bridge.

St. Joseph is celebrating the national holiday with a parade on the Fourth of July. Though the parade is supported by the Village, it is being hosted by Boy Boy Scout Troop and Pack 40. At that time, Boy Scout Troop 40 will be collecting donations for the local food bank.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. starting from the middle school, continuing down Main Street to Grand and finishing at the Woodard Community Park on the east end of the Village. 

According to Mayor Tami Fruhling-Voges Our Fireworks and other festivities will be on August 11th, 12th and 13th for the community festival and 150 Year Celebration.”  

Homer is celebrating the holiday with theri July 4th Freedom and Music Festival. 

The festival is expected to include a car show, dunk tanks. Inflatables, putt putt golf, and live music. 

Festivities will take place starting from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on July 4th at Homer Village Hall.

Seymour and Oakwood have not provided information at this time.
