Mahomet’s Jennifer Drive Christmas display has something for everybody

Christmas light displays come in many different shapes and sizes.

It seems to be the big displays, though, that draw the most attention.

Jennifer Brannon began piecing together her display at 102 Jennifer Drive more than 15 years ago when she lived in Oklahoma.

Brannon’s vision is not lights set to music or a theme, but rather a love for her holiday collection that continues to grow.

Mahomet residents have come to know her eclectic yard display intimately as cars stop on the corner of Jennifer and Main, picking out their favorite characters: Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Darth Vader and Frosty to name a few.

“I like variety, as you can tell,” she said.

She adds the same flair, on a smaller scale, for Halloween.

Like many who have annual Christmas displays, Brannon keeps her eyes out during the holiday season for new additions when prices drop in the New Year. This year, Brannon kept a few characters off her lawn just because she ran out of time.

Usually, it takes seven 8 to 10 hours days to make sure all of the pieces are secured, all of the lights work and to decorate the rooftop.

Brannon said that she hopes that the over 100 piece display makes passerbys happy.

“Hopefully it just brings them a little joy,” she said. “I know that not everyone has family or likes the holidays, but hopefully a nice big display makes it enjoyable.”
