Mahomet-Seymour wins Bulldog Invitational

After winning the championship of their own round-robin tournament, the unbeaten Mahomet-Seymour Junior High seventh-grade boys basketball team (4-0) followed up with a 45-16 win on Monday (Nov. 7) at Mattoon.

Konner Fisher hit a game-high 17 points to spark the Bulldogs at Mattoon. Tristen Adams chipped in with 11 points.

In the title game of their tournament on Friday (Nov. 4), the seventh-graders thumped Tolono Unity, 38-21, behind a 17-point showing from Fisher. Adams hit 15 points while teammates Preston Clark and Bradley Jones each contributed three points.

The M-S eighth-graders (3-1) have a two-game winning streak after prevailing at Mattoon, 37-26, and against Tolono Unity, 47-23.

Paxson O’Malley connected for 19 points at Mattoon while Coy Benway netted six points. Making four points apiece were Landon Busch, Parker Henry and Bryson Tiefenthaler.

Against Unity, O’Malley registered a team-high 13 points. Henry dropped in 10 points and Busch went for eight points. Ben Ohms and Tiefenthaler each contributed five points.

Both M-S teams return to action on Thursday (Nov. 10) at Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
