Mahomet-Seymour won four of the six singles matches and clinched the girls’ tennis dual-meet victory against Schlarman Academy by winning one doubles match on Thursday (Sept. 1) at the Illini Grove Tennis Courts.

M-S prevailed, 5-4.

In singles, the Bulldogs’ winners were Emily Young (No. 2), Holland Martin (No. 3), Adella Bird (No. 5) and Ashley Shoaf (No. 6).

Bird swept past Anna Lehmann, 6-2, 7-5, and Shoaf, overpowered  Evy Kelsey, 6-2, 6-2.

The meet-clinching win was courtesy of the M-S No. 3 doubles head of Shoaf and Bird, who topped Karlee Belton and Teresa La, 8-3.

Dropping a tough three-set match was Claire Johnson (No. 4 singles).

M-S (2-2) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 6) against Champaign Central at the Illini Grove courts.
