Mahomet-Seymour kicks off indoor track season at the Shirk Center

Mahomet-Seymour’s varsity 3,200-meter relay placed fourth on Saturday (Feb. 19) in the Bulldogs’ season-opening girls’ indoor track and field meet at The Shirk Center, on the Illinois Wesleyan University campus in Bloomington.

The foursome of Ava Boyd, Emily Bednar, Callie Jansen and Elizabeth Sims was timed in 11:00.38.

The M-S 1,600-meter relay of Mallory Carr, Chloe Allen, Jansen and Cece Abramson finished 10th in 4:50.56.

The Bulldogs’ entry in the 800-meter relay placed ninth. Sharing the baton were Ariana Lingard, Karlie Fuoss, Chloe Merkle and Hannah Hofbauer was clocked in 2:02.50.

Five M-S athletes secured top-15 finishes in individual events.

Lingard tied for eighth in the 60-meter dash (8.30), Boyd was eighth in the 800 meters (2:43.02), Sims was 14th in the 1,600 meters (6:02.87), Abramson was 15th in the 60-meter hurdles (12.21) and Fuoss was 11th in the long jump (4.18 meters or 13 feet, 7 inches).

M-S will return to action on Tuesday (Feb. 22) in a mini meet at Mount Zion.
