Mahomet-Seymour Junior High Basketball wins two

After starting the season with back-to-back losses, the M-S Junior High boys’ basketball team has compiled a two-game winning streak.

The Bulldogs dropped their first game, 42-34 at Mount Zion on Thursday (Feb. 4). Landon Hannah scored 10 points, and Nolan Franz had nine points. Chipping in with four points apiece were Cole Thrasher and Jackson Bohm.

On Saturday (Feb. 6), M-S was edged by Monticello on the Sages’ court, 27-26. Franz led the way with 10 points. Nolan Sanderson hit six points, Cade Ashby had five and Max Young three.

M-S completed its three-game road series to start the season with a 45-23 victory at Clinton on Monday (Feb. 8). Bohm registered 14 points. Ashby had 11 points, Franz finished with seven and Jake Sampson scored four.

Chipping in with three points apiece were Josh Craig and Ryan Pruitt.

On Wednesday (Feb. 10), the Bulldogs posted their top  offensive output in their home-opener, a 54-24 triumph over Champaign Edison. Bohm and Franz each tallied 11 points, followed closely by Pruitt with 10. Hannah scored nine points and Ashby put in seven points.

Both the seventh- and eighth-grade teams return to action on Saturday (Feb. 20) at Urbana.
