Mahomet native Rebekah Street competes on Person, Place or Thing Game Show

“It was really just by chance,” exclaimed Mahomet native, Rebekah Street.

Street, who graduated from Mahomet Seymour High School in 2006, now lives in Long Beach, California.

Amidst a new job and recently becoming engaged Street found herself busier than ever when a once in a lifetime opportunity fell in her lap.

Scrolling through social media, Street came across a call for game show contestants. At the time, she did not think much of it and applied.

A while later she got the call saying they wanted her to appear on the new game show Person, Place or Thing. In the midst of her hectic schedule, Street nearly declined.

Nonetheless, she thought “I kind of have nothing to lose.”

Accepting the offer, Street then attended the taping where she was chosen out of nearly 20 others to actually participate in the show.

While being a contestant on a game show may seem few and far between for many, this is not something uncommon for the Street family.

Coincidentally, 10 years ago the Street’s were met with a similar experience when Rebekah’s younger sister, Catherine Ademe, had a brief appearance on The Price is Right.

“Maybe we just have the game show personality” Rebekah joked.

Catherine was ultimately asked to “come on down,” though unlike Rebekah her time on air was short-lived.

As for Rebekah, she ended up surprising both herself and her family.

“I actually made it to the final round,” she rejoiced.

In the end, the contestant lost in the final moment. Though she did not go home with an all inclusive luxury vacation, she did find herself with two-thousand dollars and a unique story to tell.
